Overview
Youth in Focus provides social work, counselling, and therapeutic support for young people aged 13 to 18 who may be facing personal, family, social, or behavioural challenges. The service aims to empower young people, strengthen their support networks, and help them achieve their full potential through tailored interventions and care plans.

Short-term and long-term support based on individual needs.
Home visits, school visits, and community-based interventions.
Accompaniment to medical appointments, court hearings, and other important engagements.
Support in strengthening family and community support networks.
Referrals and collaboration with other professionals and services when required.
Support for adolescents experiencing homelessness, difficult living situations, or reintegration with their families.
Eligibility
Young people aged 13 to 18 years who are experiencing difficulties such as:

Anger management issues

Addictive behaviours

Family relationship difficulties

Identity-related concerns
-
Poverty or homelessness
-
Risk-taking or offending behaviour
-
Other social, emotional, or behavioural challenges requiring support.
How to apply
Referrals may be made by:

Parents or guardians
-
Professionals within the Directorate and FSWS
-
NGOs and other external agencies
As this is a voluntary service, parental or guardian consent is required for minors before a referral can be processed. Adult clients may provide their own consent. Once accepted, cases are either allocated to a professional or placed on a waiting list.
