Pre-Tertiary Certificate in Headstart for Employment, MQF 4

Overview

The Level 4 Programme Headstart for Employment is designed to support individuals in increasing their competences related to employment. Through a combination of units, coaching sessions, and simulated work practice, the programme equips individuals with the necessary job skills and helps them understand workplace ethics.

Headstart is a 6-month programme. The classes are held from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. till 1.30 p.m.

The programme consists of the following eight modules:

·        Award in Job Search Skills

·        Award in Holistic Wellbeing

·        Award in Work Ethics

·        Award in Basic Computer Skills

·        Award in Basic English

·        Award in Basic Finance

·        Award in Independent Living

·        Award in Work Practice

Students can opt to apply for the full 6-month programme, or they can opt to complete only one of the awards. 


What you'll get

The programme is structured in a manner that helps individuals to:

·        Improve relationships and social skills.

·        Perform work related tasks and increase understanding of procedures.

·        Foster workplace ethics.

·        Build Communication and Teamwork skills.

·        Become better able to manage financial resources.

·        Increase Digital Competence and more

At the end of the programme, the student will have a level 4 qualification recognised by Malta Further and Higher Education – MFHEA and be better equipped to find and retain employment.

Participants attending the Headstart for Employment course may be eligible for a stipend if not in receipt of unemployment benefits. The stipend is calculated pro-rata based on attendance.


Eligibility

·        Aged 16+

·        Level 3* qualification such as a Secondary School Leaving Certificate

·        Being registered on the National Register for Persons with Disability

*Alternative: Recognition of Prior Learning application and assessment

Timeline

  • 1 week

    Step 1: fill the form on our website or send an email/ call to express your interest. LSF staff will then get in touch to guide you through the next steps.

  • 2 days

    Step 2: You will be provided with the necessary application forms, depending on your current level. If you do not have a previous level 3 qualification, you will also have to fill in the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) application form and sit for an RPL Assessment.

  • Stage 3: Once your application documents are complete and submitted, LSF will take note of your application and get in touch with you once the programme details become available, including programme start date.
