Initiative 3.1.6 is part of Malta’s National Education Strategy 2025–2030, aiming to modernise and enhance services for post-secondary students with disabilities. The initiative launches officially on 5 August 2025, marking the beginning of a transition from the existing support model at the Dun Manwel Attard School to a more integrated, updated programme led by a selected economic operator under the Ministry for Inclusion and the Voluntary Sector.
The Three Pathways
1. Continued Education & Personal Development
• Opportunities for further study tailored to individual abilities and aspirations
• Courses focused on independence, self-esteem, and academic enrichment
• Training in digital skills and independent living
2. Vocational Training & Employment Transition
• Hands-on vocational and entrepreneurship programmes
• Career guidance, job placements, and partnerships for internships
• Support for real-world experience and personalised career planning
3. Community Participation & Creative Engagement
• Creative arts (music, drama, crafts) and teamwork opportunities
• Community-based and volunteering activities for social inclusion
• Leadership, advocacy, and network-building initiatives
Goal
The overarching goal is to provide a seamless, person-centred transition to adulthood for students with disabilities in Malta, supporting academic growth, employability, and active participation in community life.
Students need to be strictly 16 years old to apply as the application process is by birth year.
A letter circular is issued every January to every student completing Year 11
