This
programme introduces students to sustainability, water conservation, and its
impact on the environment.
Children learn about Malta’s native flora and fauna, which helps foster an
appreciation for the environment around them, as well as the delicately
balanced ecosystems, usually taken for granted.
Students are introduced to the three R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), which serve
as the foundation for sustainability, and prime students for circular living.
Practical and engaging exercises help children to realise that every decision
has a corresponding carbon footprint, and that they can take direct action to
reduce theirs.
Classes are delivered in-person by JA volunteers, over the course of three to
six hours, depending on modules selected.
Programme
outcomes include the ability to:
- Observe and explore some ways in which plant and animal behaviour is
influenced by, or adapted to, environmental conditions
- Discuss & understand animal habitats
- Understand the importance of trees & bees for biodiversity
