The Free Breakfast Club is a before-school service available in all State Primary Schools across Malta and Gozo during the scholastic year. Schools open from 07:00, approximately 60 to 90 minutes before lessons begin, so that children whose parents or guardians are in employment or full-time study can be cared for in a safe, supervised environment before the school day starts. The service is provided by the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation (MEYR) and is completely free of charge to eligible families.
Children attending the Breakfast Club are provided with a healthy and nutritious breakfast before school commences, promoting healthy lifestyle habits from an early age. Alongside breakfast, children have the opportunity to interact with other students through supervised play and structured activities in a safe and welcoming environment. The service operates daily from 07:00 until the school admission time on all scholastic days throughout the scholastic year.
The Breakfast Club service is open to students attending State Primary Schools whose parents or guardians are in employment or are enrolled as full-time students at a recognised educational institution. Proof of employment or enrolment may be required at the application stage. The service is available across all State Primary Schools in Malta and Gozo.
