Edexcel London Examinations

Overview

The Department of Examinations administers Edexcel London Examinations in Malta and Gozo on behalf of Pearson Edexcel. The Edexcel qualification series available in Malta covers the IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education, previously known as O-Levels) and the IAL (International Advanced Level, previously known as A-Levels). Both IGCSE and IAL examinations are held during the May/June session, with a limited range of subjects also available during the October/November session. Subjects requiring Coursework or Practical assessments are not available for candidates in Malta and Gozo. All applications and registrations are managed through the official online portal at myexams.gov.mt using a valid Maltese eID.


What you'll get

A place in an internationally recognised Edexcel IGCSE or IAL examination session held in Malta or Gozo. Edexcel issues certificates to all candidates who attain grades A* to G (IGCSE) or grades A* to E (IAL). The Department of Examinations sends certificates by registered post to all successful candidates. Eligibility

Edexcel examinations in Malta are open to the general public, subject to the following conditions:

  • Candidates must have completed Year 11 of their Secondary Education. For online applicants, this is confirmed directly with the school. For manual applications, the Head of School must sign the application form and include the school stamp.
  • Candidates must be 16 years of age or older on or before the closing date for applications.
  • Subjects with Coursework or Practical components are not available to candidates in Malta and Gozo.
  • Form 5 students apply through their school; all other candidates apply as private candidates.
  • Candidates applying for the first time must select "No" for the Unique Candidate Identifier (UCI) field.

Candidates in possession of a Maltese e-ID account access the website here and login in with their e-ID account and choose “Edexcel London” as applicable.

Personal details available from the e-ID will be filled in automatically, although the address may be amended by candidate. Additional details are added by the candidate.

Candidates must choose if they are applying by school (in the case of Form 5 students) or as a private candidate.

In the case of persons submitting an application for Edexcel for the first time are to tick “no” for the Unique Candidate Identifier (UCI).

Candidates choose all the applicable subjects by pressing “add subject” after each one chosen.

When the candidate is satisfied that all chosen subjects are correctly listed, the candidate clicks on “submit” and proceed with the payment.

Documents Required:

A Maltese ID card, in possession of a Maltese e-ID account.
